A special event was held on March 21, 2022 at the Senehasa premises to commemorate World Down Syndrome Day which falls on March 21. The program, which commenced at 10.30 am, was attended by children with Down syndrome and their parents. Mrs. Sonia Kottegoda, Chief Supervising Officer, Brig Raja Gunasekara RSP, Commandant and staff of Senehasa Education Center were also present at the event.

Only a limited number of people attended the event, which was held adhering to the health care guidelines. The event unveiled the aesthetic skills of children with Down Syndrome which included singing, playing and dancing performances and a fashion show presented by children with Down syndrome.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Supervising Ofiicer, Mrs Sonia Kottegoda mentioned that children with Down Syndrome are sociable, have very advanced levels of imitation skills, and are blessed with aesthetic talents from birth. She also pointed out that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to provide these children with the opportunities to include them in the wider society as independent individuals.

The program was concluded with a vote of thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the heartfelt ceremony.
